Laytown p&p club would like to thank all participants in our scratch last Saturday. We were delighted with the numbers who played and with the huge smount of compliments paid about the condition of the course. Players came from the 4 provinces,Mellows representing Connacht and Hillview flying the Munster flag, whilst Cloghogue travelled in numbers doing their stuff for Ulster.
Congratulations to Stephen Lynch from Rathfeigh who was a first time winner of a scratch cup. Stephen is an associate member of Laytown.
Damien Creevey won the senior grade on the back 18 from Padraic Sarsfield, Dublin edging out Louth, perhaps an omen for Sundays GAA fixture.
The inter grade was a tight affair altogether between Killineer club mates Gel Martin & Chris Murray with the former winning on back 18. Both men are associates of Laytown.
It was pleasing to see two schoolboys fill the top two spots in the junior grade with Laytowns own Aaron Mullen eclipsing Killineers Seanie Hoey by 4 shots.Expect to hear more about those lads in the future.
Paula Lynch won the ladies 36 Gross and Derek Maguire Killineer won the hole in 1 prize.
Thanks to Laytown members,Mark Paul Daithi Bazz Jimmy et al,along with our community employee staff for their trojan work in presenting the course in a condition that was universally praised, without exception. Thanks to Marian in the kitchen who kept us all fed and watered, in her ever genial manner.
Apologies to the small number of players who could not be facilitated owning to limited space. As it happened a few more could have been entered, learnings taken, but the cap on numbers was to ensure the competition ran smoothly, without unnecessary delays, and we are please that players moved along nicely, without significant delay, and that all 3 sessions started, literally on the dot.
We look forward to welcoming many of you back to the Leinster strokeplay later in the summer.Meanwhile the winners are on the attached poster.
